We commend Minister Sylvia Jones for her visionary leadership and bold action in reimagining primary care across Ontario. The recent $300 million investment in Primary Care Teaching Clinics (PCTCs) is a clear demonstration of an innovative, locally informed strategy that challenges the status quo and delivers real, community-driven solutions for patients across the province.
With over 60 physicians and a strong academic affiliation with NOSM U, we see clear alignment between our model of care and the vision behind Ontario’s Primary Care Teaching Clinics. Our experience in collaborative, community-responsive care, particularly in underserved areas, reflects the kind of innovation that is helping to shape the future of primary care across the province.
The momentum created by the Interprofessional Primary Care Team Expansion (IPCTE) and NOSM U’s leadership in PCTC development will enable the expansion of team-based care and deepen interdisciplinary collaboration. Together, these efforts are transforming primary care and delivering better health outcomes for patients throughout the province.
We are deeply grateful for Minister Jones’ commitment to strengthening primary care across Ontario. This investment moves us closer to a future where every patient has timely access to high-quality primary care in this province.
