Sault Ste. Marie, ON (October 4, 2024) – Group Health Centre (GHC) is proud to announce that eight of its dedicated family physicians have been honoured with the prestigious Certificate of Recognition from the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP). The awards, presented yesterday by OCFP CEO Ms. Deepy Sur at a ceremony held at The Water Tower Inn, celebrate the exceptional care, empathy, and commitment these physicians provide to their patients and the broader community.

During the October 3rd event, Ms. Sur presented awards to the following GHC physicians:

  • Megan Culina, MD, CCFP
  • Adrianna Schamp, MD, CCFP
  • Win Yan Chung, MBChB, CFPC, MRCGP
  • Peter Maione, MD
  • Victoria Murdoch, MD, CCFP
  • Carolyn Kuntz, MD, CCFP
  • Blair Jarrett, MD, CCFP
  • Christopher Bruni, MD, CCFP, FCFP

These physicians were nominated by their patients, who shared personal stories of how their family doctors have shown dedication, empathy, and advocacy, and how they supported their patients through challenging times, including life-threatening illnesses. The awards serve as a powerful reminder of the vital role family doctors play in Ontario’s healthcare system, providing essential care throughout every stage of life.

“This recognition is a true reflection of the trust and strong relationships our physicians have built with their patients,” said Lil Silvano, CEO of GHC. “Their commitment to care is inspiring and truly commendable.”

“We are incredibly proud of our team,” said Dr. Jodie Stewart, CEO of the Algoma District Medical Group. “They work tirelessly, to ensure that patients receive the care they need. This recognition is well-deserved and a testament to the difference they make in our community.”

Recognizing the outstanding contributions of these physicians reinforces the important role they play in the well-being of our community.
