On October 29th, Dr. Jonathan DellaVedova was recognized by the Sault Ste. Marie Academic Medical Association (SSM AMA) with the Excellence in Local Medical Education Award, celebrating his unwavering dedication to nurturing the future of medicine in our community.
This annual award is given to an SSM AMA member who has made significant contributions to medical education locally. Dr. DellaVedova’s outstanding efforts include leading weekly teaching sessions, often in one-on-one or small group settings. He also recently initiated educational rounds at the Group Health Centre, which is open to all learners.
Over the years, Dr. DellaVedova has shown his passion and commitment to guiding the next generation of doctors in our community. Whether working with physician assistant students, medical students, family medicine residents, or specialty residents, he dedicates time to ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
Dr. DellaVedova’s leadership extends beyond teaching. He has been instrumental in establishing a NOSM U Pediatrics residency position in Sault Ste. Marie, creating a core community rotation for McMaster pediatric residents and attracting numerous elective learners to the area for their pediatric training.
Dr. DellaVedova’s work is truly inspiring, and GHC is immensely grateful for his contributions to providing exceptional medical education in our region. This award is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
