GHC is Joining Nine Sites Across Northeastern Ontario in Mammothon 2025
On Wednesday, June 18th, Group Health Centre (GHC) is joining sites across Northeastern Ontario in Mammothon 2025 – a special breast screening initiative aimed at screening up to 445 eligible participants across the region aged 40–74 who are overdue or have never had a mammogram.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canadian women, but early detection through screening can lead to better outcomes and more effective treatment. That’s why GHC is proud to take part in this regional challenge to help more people check “get a mammogram” off their to-do list.

Who Should Get Screened?
Individuals 40 to 74 years of age who have no previous history of breast cancer, and who have not received a mammogram within the last year.
Why Mammothon?
The Mammothon campaign helps break down barriers to screening – whether it’s fear, lack of time, or simply not knowing you’re eligible. Each Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site creates a welcoming, community-focused environment with extended hours and a shared goal: screen as many participants as possible.
“This year, 9 sites across the North East are taking part in Mammothon 2025,” says Steven Blakely, Cancer Screening Manager at the North East Regional Cancer Program. “It’s a powerful community-wide effort to encourage early detection and improve health outcomes.”
